The 12 weeks
Weeks 1–4 · By ear
- W01
Foundations
Where DJing came from and where it pays today: clubs, weddings, radio, festivals. Get to know the gear, how sound travels from deck to speaker, and how to hear beats, bars and phrases.
- W02
Beatmatching by ear
The skill that separates DJs from playlist-pressers. Pitch, jog wheels and nudging until two tracks run as one.
- W03
EQ and gain
Clean, loud and never distorted. Bass swaps, smooth blends and keeping your levels out of the red.
- W04
Phrasing and song structure
Intros, builds, drops and breakdowns — and how to land every transition in the right place.
Checkpoint: A 10-minute mix without sync
Weeks 5–8 · Tech & taste
- W05
Library prep like a pro
Rekordbox analysis, beatgrids, hot cues, playlists and a gig-ready USB. Plus where to buy music legally and which file quality clubs expect.
- W06
Loops and FX
Loops, filters, echo, reverb and the creative transitions that make a set sound like yours.
- W07
Harmonic mixing and energy
Musical keys and the Camelot wheel, and how to build a set that rises, peaks and resets.
- W08
Genre lab
Commercial and Bollywood, house and Afro house, techno, hip-hop — the tempos, tricks and switches for each.
Checkpoint: A 20-minute themed set
Weeks 9–12 · The booth
- W09
Performance tools
Stems, samplers, acapellas, mic basics and recording a clean mix.

- W11
